Who your registered agent is
Your registered agent is Registered Agents Inc., our partner. Vermilion Vitez is not your registered agent.
We sell registered agent service through Registered Agents Inc. Mail for your business at the agent address goes to Registered Agents Inc. Scans of it appear in your member account.
For what a registered agent does, and how it differs state to state, see Registered agent requirements by state and the cost comparison.
Read your mail in My Mail
Scanned mail appears in My Mail, with possible legal notices sorted to the top.
- Sign in and open My Mail.
- Open an item to read the scan.
- Download the PDF if you want to keep a copy or send it to your lawyer.
We email you each time new mail arrives, with the subject "You have new mail." These emails cannot be muted.
Possible legal notices
When an item looks like a legal notice, the email says "Possible legal notice received — open it today."
We tag an item as a possible legal notice based on the words in the document title only. We do not read the full letter. That has two consequences:
- A tagged item may turn out to be routine.
- An item without the tag can still matter. Open all of your mail.
The email for a possible legal notice carries this note, which we are quoting rather than adding to:
If this is a lawsuit or summons (service of process), the deadline to respond started the day it was served on your registered agent — not the day you open it. Florida state court generally allows 20 days (Fla. R. Civ. P. 1.140); federal court 21 days (FRCP 12). Other courts and notice types have their own clocks.
The same message adds that the scan in My Mail is the fastest copy you will get, because forwarded paper mail takes extra days and the clock does not pause for it.
What to do next
Open it the day it arrives. Our notice email says to open it today and contact a lawyer.
We are not your attorney. This is not legal advice, and we cannot calculate your deadline.
The registered agent notice triage page covers what common registered agent letters mean.
Common questions
Is Vermilion Vitez my registered agent?
No. Your registered agent is Registered Agents Inc., our partner. We provide the service through them and show the scanned mail in your account.
Can I turn off the new mail emails?
No. The "You have new mail" and possible legal notice emails have no mute. The compliance mute setting does not cover them.
Is a tagged item always a lawsuit?
No. The tag comes from the document title only. Open everything, and ask a lawyer about anything that looks like a court paper.
