Delaware Nonprofit Name Search
Check a name against the official Delaware registry before you spend the filing fee.
Run your proposed name through the Delaware Division of Corporations records (portal verified 2026-09-08). The same official search covers nonprofits and LLCs in Delaware; the state applies its nonprofit naming statute to whatever the registry shows. A clear search does not reserve the name or guarantee approval.
Search the official records
The Delaware Division of Corporations keeps the authoritative business registry. Search the name exactly as you intend to file it, including punctuation and the designator.

- Try the name with and without a designator (Inc., Corp., Association); whether Delaware requires one for nonprofits is in the state's naming statute.
- Words implying a bank, insurer, school, or government agency are commonly restricted for nonprofits and may need state approval.
- Registered-agent coverage is required from day one of the entity; ours is $74.25 a year in Delaware through Registered Agents Inc. See the Delaware registered agent page.
